Vijayawada, Mar 26 (UNI) Efforts are on in Andhra Pradesh to convert hyacinth creeper to fertilizer.West Godavari Collector Chadalavada Nagarani said on Wednesday.Speaking in the Collector’s conference at the Andhra Secretariat in Amaravati near here, she said the hyacinth had spread vastly in all irrigation canals inhibiting free flow of water. “Efforts are being made to convert the hyacinth creeper as fertilizer to do away with the hyacinth threat to the irrigation canals. We will encourage the agencies who come forward to use hyacinth as fertilizers and provide them all infrastructure,” the Collector revealed. The district administration has set a target of achieving Rs 3.50 lakh per capita income in the district, she noted. She highlighted that west Godavari district is leading in aqua culture as prawns are cultivated in over 1.33 lakh acres and efforts are on to enhance it to Rs 1.50 lakh acres. UNI DP SSP.
