Hyderabad, Mar 19 (UNI) BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the Telangana budget 2025-26 presented by Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, describing it as a reflection of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's incompetence and administrative failure.
Talking to the media at the media point in the Assembly on Wednesday, KTR alleged that the budget disregarded public welfare and betrayed the electoral promises made by the Congress party.
He accused the Congress government of focusing on sending financial packages to Delhi rather than fulfilling the six key guarantees promised during the elections.
According to KTR, the budget was designed to serve corrupt practices, branding it as a "40 per cent commission budget," which he claimed posed a significant threat to Telangana's economic stability and public welfare.
KTR expressed disappointment over the absence of the promised Rs 2,500 monthly financial support for women and Rs 4,000 pensions for senior citizens.
He criticised the Congress government for neglecting these crucial assurances, leaving the people disheartened. He also highlighted that while the previous BRS government had allocated Rs 1,200 crore for handloom weavers, the Congress reduced this amount to just Rs 370 crore, ignoring the welfare of this key community.
KTR further claimed that the budget failed to address the concerns of auto drivers, gig workers, and state government employees. He criticized the Congress for not mentioning the PRC, five pending DAs, or support initiatives for these groups.
He also accused the Congress government of neglecting farmers by failing to implement the Rs 12,000 support promised to farm labourers and overlooking the commitment to provide sheep to Yadava communities.
Highlighting economic concerns, KTR alleged that Telangana’s revenue had fallen by Rs 73,000 crore due to Revanth Reddy’s ineffective governance and negative policies.
He further criticised the Congress for borrowing Rs 1.6 lakh crore in just one year without introducing any new development projects. KTR condemned the government’s failure to deliver on its promise of creating two lakh jobs in the first year and lamented the absence of unemployment allowances and the ₹5 lakh education assurance card in the budget.
He claimed the government’s incompetence had pushed the state’s economy from growth to instability.
KTR declared that the BRS would firmly oppose what he described as an "anti-people" budget.
He argued that the Congress had derailed Telangana’s decade-long progress and warned that the state’s economy was sinking due to the current government's flawed policies.
