Mallu Swarajyam’s struggles inspired me: Seethakka

Hyderabad, Mar 19 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj, Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka expressed that she drew inspiration from the struggles of revolutionary leader Mallu Swarajyam.

Speaking as the chief guest at the third death anniversary of Mallu Swarajyam, held at Sundarayya Vignana Bhavan in Baghlingampally on Wednesday, Seethakka shared how Mallu Swarajyam's life profoundly influenced her own journey.

"Like Mallu Swarajyam, I stepped into the Assembly from the forest. Her struggles inspired me greatly," Seethakka said.

She recalled that despite being born into a noble family, Mallu Swarajyam sacrificed hundreds of acres of land and dedicated her life to fighting for the poor. Seethakka highlighted Swarajyam’s role as a troop commander in areas like Mulugu and Narsampeta and credited her as a significant influence in her decision to enter public life.

"After emerging from the forest, it was Mallu Swarajyam who inspired me to choose politics," Seethakka added.

Emphasising Telangana’s legacy of struggle and sacrifice, the Minister said Mallu Swarajyam embodied these values.

Seethakka further mentioned the state's efforts to preserve Telangana's rich history of sacrifices for future generations. "We named the Women's University after Veeranari Chakali Ailamma and the Telugu University after Telangana founder Suravaram Pratap Reddy. We also present awards in Gaddar’s name to honour his contributions to the people's movement."

She highlighted the recognition given to Telangana’s cultural icons like Goreti and Pasham Yadagiri and stressed that Telangana’s liberation was achieved through the armed struggle of its farmers.

Paying tribute to Mallu Swarajyam’s unwavering commitment to women's equality and poverty eradication, Seethakka pledged to play her part in establishing Swarajyam’s statue and ensuring her contributions are remembered.

"Inspired by her, we must all work toward building a discrimination-free society and eradicating poverty," Seethakka added.
