Tiranga Yatra in Tawang showcases unity & support for Armed Forces

Itanagar, May 21 (UNI) In a resounding display of unity and patriotism, the people of Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh came together for a grand Tiranga Yatra, marching from the iconic Giant Buddha statue to the revered Tawang War Memorial on Wednesday.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all walks of life, including monks and nuns, students, NCC cadets, and members of various political parties—all coming together in a powerful expression of solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces and security agencies.
The yatra was led by the spirited NCC cadets of the Jang Higher Secondary School, whose impressive band display set an energetic tone for the march. The procession culminated at the Tawang War Memorial, where a series of patriotic performances stirred the crowd. Students from Manjushree Vidyapeeth presented a moving patriotic dance, followed by soul-touching renditions of nationalistic songs by singers Vishal and Rinchin Zomba.
Addressing the gathering, Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Armed Forces and border security personnel for their unmatched dedication and sacrifice. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack and commended the decisive and bold response of the Indian military under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The lawmaker also acknowledged the visible support from the monastic community, especially the Abbot of Sera Je Jamyang Choekorling Monastery, Dhobley Rinpoche, along with monks and nuns from various monasteries and nunneries. “The civil-military harmony in Tawang is not only exemplary but serves as a model for the entire nation. This bonhomie must be preserved and further strengthened,” he stated.
Reaffirming the people's commitment to national unity, Tsering emphasized, “This Tiranga Yatra is more than symbolic—it reflects our deep respect, gratitude, and emotional connection with our brave soldiers. It also celebrates the resolute actions taken by our armed forces against terrorism.”
He further lauded all political parties for setting aside their differences and coming together for a common national cause. In a heartfelt gesture, the MLA felicitated the Brigade Commander and Commanding Officers of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces by presenting them with traditional swords adorned with khada (ceremonial scarves).
The Tiranga Yatra in Tawang stood as a profound testament to the patriotism, unity, and unwavering support of the people for the Armed Forces of India.
