Top Chinese military general's absence in public events raises speculation of his exit

Beijing, Apr 5 (UNI) Top Chinese military commander, General He Weidong’s absence in the decade old military springtime ceremony has given rise to speculations that he has been removed from his position.

General Weidong, the second highest ranking commander of the People’s Liberation Army, was facing investigation in various cases. President Xi Jinping must have removed him from the military during the tree plantation event in the outskirts of Beijing all top Chinese military official participated it, except General Weidong.

As Xi’s no 2, he shared a long-standing relationship with the Chinese leader, dating back early days of their career in the province of Fujian.

Rumours about the investigation against General Weidong first surfaced during Chinese annual political meeting. The 67-year-old hasn’t appeared in the public for three weeks since the closing ceremony of the Chinese Communist Party meet.
