Agartala, March 14 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday flagged off five modern mobile forensic vans for different districts which will be used for collection and preservation of quick and proper scientific evidence after occurrence of any crime.
“Although our crime rate according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) is third from the bottom of 28 states, the conviction rate is still not achieved at our desired level.
We believe if the investigation mechanism is strengthened and scientific techniques are used, the conviction rate will be improved and justice delivery system will be better, where these forensic vehicles will play a vital role,” Dr Saha said.
He stated that three districts of Tripura already have the mobile forensic vans and now the remaining five districts have also been included in the list. The scientific investigators will go to the crime scene independently immediately after occurrence of any crime and collect all the evidence and preserve them in the specific stores in the vehicle, which will be later brought for scientific analysis.
“Now the evidence is collected and stored manually, which is left in natural environment until brought to the laboratory for analysis. Sometimes, it becomes inconvenient for the scientific communities to fast the analysis process, and that also leads to a delay in the justice delivery system.
The modern scientific arrangement for evidence collection and preservation improved the entire judicial process,” the CM said.
