Agartala, May 22 (UNI) West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under Jirania RD Block in West Tripura securing the Silver Award under National Awards for e-Governance 2024–2025 under the category Grassroot Level Initiatives for Deepening/Widening of Service Delivery with focus on initiatives by Gram Panchayats or equivalent Traditional Local Bodies.
The Chief Minister, holding the charge of Panchayats Dr Manik Saha applauded the administration for striving towards PM’s digital India mission, and said, “A new feather added to the crown of the success of the Panchayati Raj system in Tripura! For its excellent work in expanding the scope of service delivery at the grassroots level.”
The officials said West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat has secured second place in a competition with panchayats among the states of the country. Panchayati Raj system in Tripura has witnessed a golden era of development and empowerment.
The award will be presented at the National Conference on E-Governance to be held in Visakhapatnam on June 9–10. As a token of honour, the Gram Panchayat will receive a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, officials stated.
Tripura had already set a national benchmark last year by securing a total of seven national awards in different categories for excellence in Panchayati Raj, they added.
