TVAGA announces Unreal Cinematic Challenge at WAVES 2025

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) The Telangana VFX, Animation, and Gaming Association (TVAGA) has announced the Unreal Cinematic Challenge, a groundbreaking competition set to take place at WAVES 2025 (World Audio and Video Entertainment Summit) in Mumbai.

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Create in India’ vision, promoting indigenous digital content creation and showcasing India’s talent in VFX, animation, and gaming on a global stage.

The challenge invites professionals and students to craft immersive cinematic sequences using Unreal Engine. Participants will be given a 10-second base animation sequence and must enhance it using Unreal Engine’s Sequencer while maintaining the original camera animation.

While they can introduce their own characters, they must adhere to the given constraints. The final submissions will be reviewed by an expert panel, and the top finalists—equally split between students and professionals—will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to WAVES 2025 in Mumbai. There, they will compete in an intense eight-hour live challenge to create cinematic sequences in real time and pitch their work to leading media and entertainment professionals.

This competition not only provides a prestigious platform for Indian talent but also reinforces the country's position as a global leader in digital content creation. By fostering innovation and industry collaborations, it enhances opportunities for both emerging and established professionals in the VFX and gaming sectors.

The registration will open on March 17, the submission deadline is April 1 and final presentations at WAVES 2025 is from May 1-4.

TVAGA’s initiative reflects its commitment to empowering creators and advancing the digital entertainment industry in Telangana and beyond.

The Unreal Cinematic Challenge is poised to become a premier competition for virtual storytelling, further cementing India's growing dominance in the global media and entertainment sector, a statement here said on Saturday.
