Two college students run over by train while crossing tracks

Chennai, May 12 (UNI) In a tragic incident, two final year engineering students
were run over by an express train while crossing the railway tracks near the
St. Thomas Mount railway station in the city on Sunday evening.
Police said the victims, identified as Mohammed Nabul and Sabir Ahmed,
both 20 years old and hailing from Perambalur district, were pursuing their
studies at a private university in Chennai and residing in a hostel at suburban
Adambakkam.
According to reports, the students after playing cricket near the railway station
were returning to their hostel. They were chatting and crossing the railway tracks
instead of using the foot overbridge, when the tragedy occurred.
On being alerted by the public, Government Railway Police (GRP) and RPF
personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the Government Hospital
for post mortem.
