UK, Norway speak with India, Pakistan, urge for restraint and dialogue

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Norway’s FM Espen Barth Eide today spoke with both India and Pakistan urging for restraint and dialogue. India conveyed its firm stance on countering terrorism.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar referring to his phone call with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, said:
“Had a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy this afternoon.
“Our discussions centered around countering terrorism, for which there must be zero-tolerance.”
On his phone call with the Norway Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, he said:
“Spoke with FM @EspenBarthEide of Norway.
“Discussed India’s targeted and measured response to counter terrorism.”
The UK FS said in a post that he had spoken with both EAM Jaishankar and with Pakistani Deputy PM and FM Ishaq Dar. Lammy said that he stressed on diplomacy as a way forward, and called for the escalation to stop.
“Tensions between India and Pakistan remain a serious concern.
“Speaking to both @DrSJaishankar and @MIshaqDar50 today I’ve continued to push for a path forward through diplomacy, not conflict.
“I have been clear to all sides that if this escalates further, nobody wins.”
The Norway FM said in a post on X:
“I am deeply concerned about the high tension between India and Pakistan following the terror attack in Pahalgam April 22.
“In phone conversations with Indian FM @DrSJaishankar and Pakistani Deputy PM & FM @MIshaqDar50, I urged restraint and dialogue.”
