Union minister Sukanta Majumdar lauds PM Modi's leadership in eradicating Naxalism

Kolkata, May 8 (UNI) Union minister of state for education Sukanta Majumdar on Thursday lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to free India from the menace of decades old Naxalism in different parts of the country.
Majumdar's praise of the PM happened a day after 22 Naxalites were eliminated in an encounter with the security forces in the forests of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district bordering Telangana where a massive counter-insurgency operation was underway.
"India is witnessing historic progress toward eradicating the decades-old menace of Naxalism," Majumdar, who is also BJP's West Bengal unit president, said.
He listed that in 2025 alone (till date), the nation has achieved significant success: "Over 90 Naxals have been eliminated, 213 arrested and 203 surrendered.
"These numbers are not just statistics — they represent a safer India, a stronger democracy, and a more secure future for our tribal and rural communities," the Union Minister opined.
He said the Modi Government has adopted a mission mode approach to completely eliminate Naxalism from Indian soil by March 2026.
"This relentless focus on national security, development, and rehabilitation is commendable.
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Modi ji for his unwavering commitment to making Naxalism-free Bharat a reality. Your leadership inspires the nation to move forward with confidence and unity," Majumdar concluded.
