UP: 1,007 e-rickshaws seized on Day 2 during drive

Lucknow, Apr 2 (UNI) In a bid to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain law and order, the Uttar Pradesh government continued its crackdown on unauthorised e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws on Wednesday.
Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh said that on the second day of the drive, 1,007 e-rickshaws were seized and challans were issued to 3,093 violators. It may be noted that the month-long statewide campaign began on Tuesday following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directives.
According to the Transport Commissioner, on Tuesday, the first day of the campaign, authorities seized 915 e-rickshaws and issued challans to 3,035. He said that the crackdown would continue alongside an awareness campaign to educate the public.

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday criticised Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather for disallowing a discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, calling the move "ridiculous and condemnable."

Earlier, the Speaker Assembly, disallowed discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 passed by Parliament, stating that the matter is sub judice.
The legislators from the treasury benches — including members of the National Conference, Congress, and independents — demanded that the adjournment motion moved by ten members to discuss the Waqf Amendment Bill be accepted.
