Aligarh/Firozabad (UP), May 8 (UNI) Five persons, including four policemen and an accused, were killed when a police vehicle collided with a container parked on the side of the road in the Lodha area of Aligarh district here in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the incident took place when Firozabad police were taking an accused, Gulsanwar, in a government vehicle to Muzaffarnagar court for a hearing on Thursday when it collided with a container parked on the side of the road at Chikavati bypass in the Lodha police station area.
"The vehicle was completely destroyed in the accident, and all the policemen were trapped inside it," they said.
Police sources said that the Aligarh police, which reached the spot after getting information about the accident, took out all the injured from the van, but by then, accused Gul Sanwar, along with Sub-Inspector Ram Sajeevan and Head Constables Chandrapal and Balveer Singh, had died.
"Head Constable Raghuveer Singh and Sherpal Singh were admitted to Aligarh hospital in serious condition, where Raghuveer also died.
On the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Circle Officer Vineet Kumar and Inspector Surendra Vikram Singh have reached Aligarh.
