UP: Octogenarian woman murdered in Moradabad

Moradabad (UP), May 8 (UNI) An 80-year-old woman was hit with a blunt object and killed by unidentified persons in the Civil Lines area of Moradabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, a police officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (City) Kumar Ranvijay Singh said that the inspector in charge of the Civil Lines police station received information on the phone about the murder of the elderly woman at around 3 pm. "It was told that Pramod Rastogi (80), the elderly mother of chemical businessman Daya Shankar Rastogi, has been murdered in a bungalow located in Ramganga Vihar Parampara First Society," he said.
He said that on receiving the information, the police and forensic team reached and inspected the spot, and the servants present there were questioned about the incident. "Daya Shankar had gone to Pune to meet his daughter Jyoti. It is said that an old servant, Sachin, along with other maids, was present at the businessman's bungalow," he said.
The SP said that Sachin is said to be absconding since the incident. "Prima facie, it seems that the woman was hit on the head with some heavy object which resulted in her death," he said.
