UP: Rape accused commits suicide in Amroha

Amroha (UP), Apr 20 (UNI) A youth accused of sexually assaulting a female teacher died during treatment on Sunday after consuming poisonous substance in Amroha district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here.
Circle Officer (CO) Avadh Bhan Bhadoria said that a case of raping a female teacher was pending in the court against the deceased Faisal (27), a resident of Naugawan Sadat police station area.
"On Saturday, the victim had given a complaint in the police station in which she had accused Fiasal of entering the college, pointing a gun and threatening to kill her in a bid to withdraw the rape case. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera of the college," he said.
He said that it was alleged that Faisal had threatened to kill the victim several times before this through social media.
"It is alleged that Faisal used to continuously pressurise the victim every day to withdraw the case," he said.
The CO said that on the basis of the victim's complaint, the police had registered a case of attempted murder against the accused Faisal on Saturday.
"Meanwhile, the rape accused Faisal consumed poisonous substance on Saturday. Seeing his condition deteriorating, he was admitted to the district hospital for treatment where he died during treatment on Sunday," he said.
