UP: Sadar of Sambhal Jama Masjid sent to jail

Sambhal (UP), Mar 23 (UNI) The Sadar of Jama Masjid of Sambhal was produced in the court by the police after a four-hour grilling and sent to jail on Sunday, sources said here.
It may be noted that violence broke out in Sambhal on November 24 last year during the survey of the Jama Masjid of Sambhal in which four persons were killed and several police personnel were injured.
The sources said that Sadar of Jama Masjid Zafar Ali Advocate was called to Sambhal police station for questioning on Saturday, after which he was sent home. "On Sunday, Zafar Ali was again called to the police station and questioned about the violence," they said.
Police sources said that after a long interrogation of four hours, Zafar Ali was produced in the court of Additional District Judge in Chandausi, from where he was sent to jail.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said that relevant sections of the BNS and Prevention of Destruction of Public Property Act have been imposed against Zafar Ali.
Police sources said Zafar Ali has said that he did not instigate any violence. His residence is about 200 meters away from Jama Masjid.
For security purposes, heavy police force has been deployed in and around Jama Masjid. UNI XC AB SSP
