UP: Seven labourers injured as boiler of food factory explodes

Gorakhpur, April 23 (UNI) Seven labourers from Bihar were injured after the boiler of a fast food factory exploded in Sector 13 of Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police sources said here.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident caused by boiler explosion in Gorakhpur district and has directed the administration to send the injured to the hospital immediately and to provide them proper treatment.
Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He has directed the district administration officials to reach the spot and expedite the relief work.
Police said that Himanshu Mani Tripathi owns Total Fast Food Product Limited in plot number D-20 in GIDA Sector 13.
"The factory manufactures cardboard, leaf plates, donas and chowmein named Junior. The labourers in the factory are employed through a contractor," they said.
Police said that on Wednesday evening the boundary wall and tin shed of the factory collapsed with a loud explosion. "The workers in the factory started running out. On receiving information of the blast, the Tehsildar and SP North, including the GIDA police station in-charge, reached the spot and found seven workers lying injured," they said.
Police said that the injured, including Umar Farooq, Mubarak, Majid, Isha, Laddu, Bilal and Salman, all residents of Araria district in Bihar, were sent to Community Health Centre Piprauli from where they have been referred to the district hospital.
"The condition of two workers is serious," they said.
Police said that the condition of Umar Farooq and Majid is stated to be critical.
"The factory officials present on the spot claimed that the explosion occurred due to the explosion in a LPG gas cylinder. Whereas during the inspection by the officials, no piece of the cylinder was found there," they said.
Superintendent of Police (North) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava said that the chowmein was kept on the boiler to dry.
"In the investigation it has come to the fore that the boiler exploded. Seven workers sustained injuries and all have been sent to the district hospital. Efforts are being made to contact the factory owner," he added.
