UP: Two children drown in Ganga in Kaushambi

Kaushambi (UP), Apr 30 (UNI) Two children died after they accidentally slipped into the Ganga River and drowned in the Sandipan Ghat area of Kaushambi District here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.

Police sources said that Shreyansh (8) and Sanoj (10), both residents of Mohanapur village, had gone to eat watermelon in the Ganga basin on Tuesday.

"When they reached the bank of the Ganga with watermelons, suddenly their feet slipped, and they drowned in the deep waters. The farmers living nearby raised an alarm after seeing the two children drowning," they said.

Police sources said that the boatmen present nearby jumped into the Ganga and, after a lot of effort, took them out on Tuesday night. "The children were taken to the doctor, where they were declared dead," they said.
