US Senators warn of upcoming action on new Russia sanctions – Reports

Washington, May 23 (UNI) US senators, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, have warned Moscow that they will take action to impose new, crippling sanctions against Russia if there is no progress toward a peace settlement in the Ukraine conflict soon, Axios reported on Thursday.
Thune warned on Thursday that if Russian President Vladimir Putin fails to present a "serious proposal for an immediate ceasefire" with Ukraine, the Senate will move forward with imposing new sanctions on Russia, according to the report.
"If Russia is not willing to engage in serious diplomacy, the Senate will work with the Trump administration to consider additional sanctions to force Putin to start negotiating," the report quoted Thune as saying.
