Patna, Apr 05 (UNI) Senior RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday declared that Waqf Board Amendment Bill would not be implemented in Bihar, if his party was voted to power in next assembly elections, slated for October-November this year.
Yadav told media persons here that Waqf Board Amendment Bill passed in Parliament was "violation" of Article 26 of the Constitution as it was also against the interests of Muslim community for whom the bill was passed despite strong protest from all secular parties of the country. Amendment made in Waqf Board would not be implemented in Bihar if his party was voted to power in next state assembly elections to be held in October-November this year, he thundered.
" We have also filed a petition in Supreme Court challenging the Waqf Board Amendment Bill passed in Parliament ", RJD leader said. BJP was claiming that the bill was in interest of Muslims, which was totally wrong and misleading as saffron party had never cared for their interests of Muslims , he further said and asked when BJP started thinking for protecting the interests of Muslim community.
" Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stands exposed on the issue of Waqf Board Amendment Bill as several Muslim leaders of JD(U) were frustrated with him and some of them have also resigned from the party ", RJD leader said adding that he would welcome all those leaders if they wished to join his party. They were really frustrated with Chief Minister Kumar and were pressurised to address a press conference but left the it midway without responding to queries of media persons, he remarked.
"Top leaders of JD(U) had pressurised Muslim leaders to hold press conference as they were threatened to face the consequences in terms of losing their posts like MLCs and other important positions if they did not toe the party line and address the media persons accordingly ", Yadav said. It was now well understood that JD(U) had lost its identity and was being dictated by BJP leadership, he pointed out.
