Youth gets death sentence for murder of 7-year-old girl

Badaun (UP), Mar 19 (UNI) A youth was awarded death sentence along with a fine of Rs 1.75 lakh by a special court on Wednesday for murder of a seven-year-old girl after failing to rape her in Bilsi area of Badaun district here in Uttar Pradesh, a prosecution officer said here.
Special Public Prosecutors Virendra Singh and Pradeep Bharti said that on October 18, 2024, the seven-year-old girl had gone to buy vegetables, but did not return home till late.
"On the information of the family members the police recovered the victim's body from a ruined house," they said.

Prosecution officer said that on the basis of CCTV footage accused Jaane Alam was identified after an encounter and sent to jail.
"On the basis of evidence available on record the court of Special Judge (Pocso Court) Deepak Kumar convicted Jaane Alam and awarded him capital punishment along with the fine of Rs 1.75 lakh," they said.
Prosecution officers said that the court completed the hearing in record four months.
