YSRCP slams Naidu headed AP govt for exorbitant power tariff

Vijayawada, Apr 17 (UNI) YSRCP MLC Monditoka Arun Kumar on Thursday slammed the Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government for imposing excessive burden on the public through unjustified electricity tariff hikes.

The current regime has introduced new forms of exploitation under the guise of ‘true-up charges,’ ‘adjustment charges,’ and FPPCA (Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment) every month, significantly increasing electricity costs.

“The government has raised tariffs by 40 paise per unit, resulting in an additional collection of Rs 4,000 crore from consumers,” the MLC maintained.

During the former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure, no such financial burdens were imposed on the public. But the Naidu administration is causing distress through exorbitant electricity bills despite low consumption, likening their approach to oppressive tactics, Kumar said.

He reiterated the YSRCP’s stand on fighting against these unjust charges to protect the interests of the people.
