'Animal House' actress Mary Louise Weller passes away at 79

Los Angeles, Oct 4 (UNI) Veteran actress Mary Louise Weller, best known for portraying Mandy Pepperidge in John Landis' American comedy "Animal House," passed away at the age of 79 after brief illness, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Weller's longtime partner, Michael Roy Curtis, has confirmed that she passed away on Thursday, just one day before her birthday.
Weller was an only child, who was born in New York on October 2, 1946, and raised in Westwood's Calif since she was about 10. Famed actor Danny Kaye, a friend of her father Alex, a doctor, was her godfather and her mother was a homemaker.
A former Ford model and longtime spokesperson for Jean Naté fragrance, the veteran actress also played a Southern guest editor at a New York fashion magazine in the Larry Peerce-directed adaptation of Sylvia Plath's 'The Bell Jar' (1979) and was the love interest of Chuck Norris' character in the Hong Kong-set 'Forced Vengeance '(1982).
Based on The Hollywood Reporter information, Weller also showed up on TV shows such as Baretta, Kojak, Starsky & Hutch, Supertrain, Vegas, Fantasy Island, CHiPs and for her final onscreen credit, a 1983 episode of Quincy, M.E.
During her brief acting career, in a 1986 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she noted that, "I was the beautiful girl in trouble or the rich guy's daughter who owns a Porsche and won't give you the time of day."
Apart from starring in the John Landis' comedy hit 'Animal House', the actress was also famous for her role as the Pi House sorority sister. She also appeared in Larry Peerce's adaptation of Sylvia Plath's "The Bell Jar", "Once upon a Spy", "Forced Vengeance", "Blood Tide" and "Q".
In one of her first acting jobs, she appeared uncredited in a party scene in Sydney Lumet's "Serpico" (1973), which starred famous veteran actor Al Pacino, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The year 1978 was a big one for her. In addition to "Animal House", she also portrayed a marine biologist in the NBC telefilm "Hunters of the Reef" and a college student opposite Andrew Prine in the horror movie "The Evil".
Notably, the veteran actress also acted onstage in New York; wrote a play, "Four Alone", that was performed at the Greenhouse Theatre in Pasadena with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts; and sought to produce a film based on the life of American jockey and model Mary Bacon prior leaving show business.
Asked in 2012 if she knew "Animal House" would be a success, Weller replied that she "was pretty sure" and added, "I remember showing the script to Brandon Stoddard, who was head of ABC at that time. He also knew it would be an enormous hit... but he warned me that it would be the movie I would always be known for."
Moreover, Weller is survived by her cousin Sheila Weller, an author whose books include the 2003 memoir "Dancing at Ciro's: A Family's Love, Loss, and Scandal on the Sunset Strip" about her family's life in 1950s Hollywood, according to Variety.
