‘Namami Shambho’ Presents an evening of devotional music at Pune Festival

Pune, Sep 24 ( UNI) An evening of devotional music dedicated to Lord Shiva was presented at the 38th Pune Festival on Wednesday, with a blend of vocal renditions and traditional Indian instruments creating a spiritual atmosphere at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha.
The programme, titled ‘Namami Shambho, featured devotional and classical compositions describing the glory and greatness of Lord Shiva. The performance opened with the Nandi “Panchatunda Nararundamaladhar Parvatish Aadhee Namito” and included Sanskrit songs, shlokas, parans, stotras, natya compositions and film songs.
The repertoire included Karpuragauram, Shadja Shiv Hai, Aadidev Mahadev, Shiv Raksha Stotra, Lingashtakam, Shiv Kailaso Ke Vasi, Shiv Swarnamala, Sadashivashtakam, Shambho Shankara, Parvati Vallabhashtakam, Rudrashtakam, Shankarabharanam, Namami Shambho, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Soham Har Damru Baje, Shiv Tandav Stotram and Bilvashtakam, among others.
Vocalists Shekhar Kendale, Chandrarani Kendale, Ashwini Ausekar, Manish Tupe and Sumit Jadhav performed the compositions. They were accompanied by Pratik Gujar on pakhawaj, Anil Bhujbal on tabla, Hrithik Gujar on percussion, Shailesh Deshpande on flute and Prakash Sutar on keyboard. Harshal Bhandare conducted the narration.
The programme also featured traditional instruments such as the conch, pakhawaj, tabla, flute and damru. The Shiv and Ganesh Paran received appreciation for their rhythmic presentation with pakhawaj accompaniment. The selection of lesser-heard devotional compositions added variety to the programme.
At the beginning of the programme, Pune Festival President Krishnakumar Goel, Chief Coordinator of Cultural Programmes Dr Satish Desai and Trustee Mohan Tillu felicitated the singers, artistes, instrumentalists, narrator and organisers. UNI SP CDS
