‘TB Will Lose, India Will Win’: Rekha Gupta calls on youth to join National TB elimination drive

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday called upon the country's youth to actively participate in the national mission to eliminate tuberculosis, saying the combined strength of health, youth and defence can help India realise its resolve of becoming TB-free.
Addressing the launch of the Joint Squad for Health (JOSH) teams at Bharat Mandapam, Gupta said the initiative to take the fight against TB to the grassroots level was an important step towards eliminating the disease from its roots.
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda launched the JOSH teams at the event. union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, MPs, MLAs, councillors, senior officials, NCC cadets, My Bharat volunteers and young participants were also present.
Gupta said sustained efforts were being made under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to eliminate TB from the country.
She said, “The combined strength of health, youth and defence is giving this national mission a broad public participation-driven character.”
Through the JOSH initiative, young volunteers, NCC cadets, elected representatives and government officials will reach out to communities to spread awareness about TB and strengthen efforts towards its elimination, she said.
Emphasising the role of young people, Gupta said, “By channeling the energy, enthusiasm and determination of young people into this mission, the fight against TB can be taken to every section of society.”
She expressed confidence that greater youth participation and public involvement would strengthen India's resolve to eliminate TB.
The Chief Minister said JOSH teams would work across the country with the resolve that “TB will lose, India will win” and contribute towards building a healthier India.
Calling upon young people to join the campaign, she said, “I call upon all young people to become part of the national campaign, spread awareness about TB and contribute to efforts to rid society of the disease.”
Referring to Prime Minister Modi's message of “Hum Karke Rahenge” (We Will Do It), Gupta said the belief provided the strength to face every challenge.
“Nothing is impossible, and within every impossibility lies the possibility of what can be achieved,” she said.
Gupta said all sections of society must move forward together with the determination to make India TB-free and realise the vision of a developed India.
“The vision of a developed India can be fulfilled only when India is healthy and prosperous,” she said.

IMD warns of thunderstorms in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi on Oct 10-11
