140 fall ill after eating bhel-bhat at Malegaon weekly market; Minister Dada Bhuse visits hospital

Nashik, Sep 28 (UNI) More than 140 people, including a large number of children, reportedly suffered from food poisoning after consuming bhel-bhat purchased from a local vendor at the weekly market in Nandgaon Budruk village of Malegaon taluka.
All affected individuals have been admitted to the General Hospital in Malegaon, where their condition is currently stable.
The incident occurred after a weekly market was held in Nandgaon Budruk.
Several villagers visiting the market purchased bhel-bhat from a local vendor.
However, shortly after consuming the food, many people began experiencing severe nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting.
As several people, particularly children, started falling ill simultaneously, panic spread across the village.
Local residents promptly rushed the affected individuals to the General Hospital in Malegaon for treatment.
The sudden admission of more than 140 patients at the hospital initially triggered a flurry of activity.
Upon learning about the situation, several private doctors from Malegaon rushed to the government hospital and joined hands with the medical staff to provide emergency treatment.
Their timely assistance helped bring the situation under control.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Maharashtra School Education Minister Dada Bhuse immediately visited the Malegaon General Hospital. He met the patients and their relatives and enquired about their well-being.
He also held discussions with the medical officers and directed them to ensure that all patients receive appropriate and prompt medical care.
Providing an update on the patients' health, District Collector Ayush Prasad said that all patients were stable and the situation was under control. He appealed to citizens not to panic.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Collector has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to examine whether the food items sold by the vendor were contaminated or unfit for consumption.
Medical teams are closely monitoring the health of all affected patients.
