30- member farmers' delegation to meet union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Oct 10

Kolhapur, Sep 30 (UNI) As many as 30 representatives of various farmers’ organisations will meet union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi in Delhi on October 10 to press for their key demands, including higher sugarcane FRP, a minimum selling price for sugar and revision of ethanol prices.
In a press release, the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) said its protest at Channamma Circle in Hubballi on Tuesday (September 29), led by SSS founder-president Raju Shetty along with Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leaders Channappa Pujari and Shashikant Guruji, was withdrawn following union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s assurance to hold talks with farmers’ representatives in Delhi on October 10.
The farmers' organizations demanded that the MSP of sugar be increased to Rs 50 per kg and the price of 'C-heavy' molasses to Rs 70 per litre. Raju Shetty warned that sugar factories in both states will remain closed until a positive decision is taken regarding the MSP of sugar and the ethanol price hike.
