NCP-SP backs Abhijeet Dipke’s 'jail bharo' and Thackeray Brothers' mega march against EC

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has rallied behind growing protests against the Election Commission of India (ECI) over alleged irregularities in voter lists and the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
In a boost to the youth-led agitation, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) has extended its support to both tomorrow’s ‘Jail Bharo’ protest and the October 4 mega march led by Raj and Uddhav Thackeray.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi, NCP-SP National Working President and MP Supriya Sule announced the party’s support for the October 2 statewide agitation.
“To protest against the arbitrary functioning of the Central Election Commission and to protect the democratic values of our nation, a ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation is being led by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief Abhijeet Dipke in Mumbai tomorrow, October 2,” Sule said. “Our party extends its complete support to this protest. We also fully endorse the grand mega march being spearheaded by the Thackeray brothers, Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, in Mumbai on October 4.”
Dipke’s ‘Jail Bharo’ protest at Dadar’s Shivaji Park on Gandhi Jayanti has gained traction, with significant participation expected from Gen-Z voters and competitive-exam aspirants from across Maharashtra.
While NCP-SP has extended political and moral support to both protests, it remains unclear whether senior party leaders will physically join the demonstrations.
Congress leader Nana Patole has already confirmed his participation in the October 4 mega march, indicating coordinated opposition action against the poll panel.
Meanwhile, with Shivaji Park designated as a ‘silent zone’ and resistance reported over the proposed gathering, Mumbai Police have stepped up security and deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order.
