Nashik, June 21 (UNI) A four-year-old girl was killed when a leopard attacked her in an agricultural field in Gonde Shivar in Sinnar taluka of the district on Friday evening.

According to the forest department, the deceased was identified as Janhvi Suresh Mengal (4). A leopard hiding in a field dragged and killed a four-year-old girl in front of her mother while she was returning home from work in Gonde Shivara in the Sinnar taluka on Friday around 6.30 pm.

Seeing her daughter dragged by a leopard in front of her eyes, the mother and the labourers with her ran into the jowar crop screaming. Due to their screams, the leopard left Janhvi and fled.

However, the leopard grabbed Janhvi's neck, causing deep wounds. The labourers immediately informed the farm owners Sharad Tambe and Prakash Tambe about this. They immediately reached the spot and took Janhvi to Sinnar on a two-wheeler for treatment.

Doctors at Sinnar Rural Sub- Hospital examined Janhvi and declared her dead. The Forest Department and Vavi Police are aware of the incident and have gone to the spot to inspect it.
