6.4 ft long saltwater crocodile rescued from village pond

Kendrapara, June 29 (UNI) Personnel from Bhitarkanika National Park have rescued a 6.4-foot-long male saltwater crocodile from a pond at Endulapur village under Rajnagar block in this coastal district.
The crocodile was rescued yesterday using a fishing net from the pond belonging to one Dambarudhar Rout.
Forest officials suspect that the crocodile may have strayed from its natural habitat during a high tide.
The rescued reptile was later released into the Habali creek near Gupti, within the Bhitarkanika National Park.
Villagers residing near the national park have been advised to exercise caution before entering water bodies, as saltwater crocodiles often stray into rivers, ponds, creeks, and other water bodies from their natural habitat during the rainy season.
