Guwahati, June 29 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the Jatiyani Village in Moran and inspected the upcoming emergency landing facility being developed on National Highway 2.
The ELF, a strategic infrastructure project, is expected to enable fighter jets like Rafale, Tejas, MIG, to land and take off on a 4.2-km stretch of road in times of emergency.
Sarma visited the project with senior officers of IAF and NHIDCL. Later talking to reporters, the Chief Minister said that the project is expected to be completed by October.

During disasters, the road can serve as a makeshift airstrip for the Indian Air Force.
