Patna, Sept 17 ( UNI) A healthy heart did not begin only in the hospital, it began on the plate, reinforcing this message, AIIMS Patna Thursday organised a special nutrition awareness programme focusing on the importance ofheart-healthyy dietary and lifestyle practices for the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases.
Addressing the programme held at the Department of Dietetics, AIIMS Patna organised a special nutrition awareness programme at the Cardiac OPD, Prof. (Dr.) Prashant Kumar Singh, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS Patna, highlighted the importance of making nutrition an integral part of preventive healthcare. He emphasised that informed dietary choices and healthy lifestyle practices could play an important role in reducing the risk of lifestyle-related diseases.
Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Bhambhani, HOD, Department of Cardiology, spoke about the close relationship between dietary habits and cardiovascular health and stressed the importance of adopting healthy practices for the prevention and long-term management of heart disease.
The programme was also addressed by Dr. Swarnim, DMS (Diet and Kitchen Services) and Dr. Richa Jaiswal, Chief Dietician, who highlighted practical aspects of nutrition and the importance of personalised dietary guidance in patient care.
The awareness session was followed by an interactive Nutrition Dialogue, conducted by the dietitians of the Department of Dietetics. Patients and attendants actively participated in the interaction and discussed their dietary concerns, while the dietitians provided practical guidance on making healthier food and lifestyle choices.
The programme conveyed the message that good nutrition was not merely about eating less or eating more, but about eating right, eating mindfully and making informed choices that supported a healthier heart and a healthier life.
The programme was organised as part of National Nutrition Month, a Government of India initiative launched on 8 March 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the vision of building a “Suposhit Bharat” (Well-Nourished India).
