AAP's Sanjeev Arora resigns Rajya Sabha seat after winning Ludhiana West assembly by-poll

Chandigarh, July 1 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora has resigned from his Upper House seat after being elected as MLA from Ludhiana West in the recently held by-election.In a letter addressed to the Rajya Sabha Chairman today, the AAP MLA said that he is resigning from the Rajya Sabha with immediate effect in view of his election as MLA from the Ludhiana West seat.
Now, it would be interesting to see who gets the Rajya Sabha seat from AAP as party supremo and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has already denied that he would go to the Rajya Sabha.
In his letter to the Rajya Sabha chairperson, Sanjeev Arora wrote:
“In keeping with the democratic principles and constitutional obligations that prevent dual membership of parliament and a state legislature, I hereby relinquish my membership of the Upper House.”
He said it has been an honour and privilege to serve as a member of the Rajya Sabha and contribute to the legislative process at the national level, during his tenure of almost three years as member of the Upper House.
He also thanked the Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar for his guidance and said he has learnt a lot from his leadership.
