AAP seeks action against Parvesh Verma over alleged slap during Delhi road inspection

New Delhi, Sept 27(UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday demanded action against Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma after a video purportedly showing him slapping a youth during a road inspection in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar surfaced on social media.
AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, who was present during the inspection, alleged that the minister lost his temper after being shown the condition of the road and slapped the person who was recording the incident.
“I thought he would inspect the road, check the quality and perhaps take action against the PWD officials. Instead, he slapped the person who was recording the incident and left the spot,” Singh alleged.
The youth, identified as Sahib Singh, also alleged that Verma took his phone when he was livestreaming the inspection and slapped him. “To stop the ongoing live stream, Parvesh Verma snatched the phone from my hand, raised his hand at me and slapped me,” he told reporters, adding that he had filed a police complaint.
AAP MLA, Jarnail Singh alleged that the SHO of Vikaspuri police station was present at the spot and accused him of allowing the minister to leave. He said the AAP would demand registration of an FIR and action against Verma.
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj, sharing the video on X, accused Verma of assaulting the youth while being accompanied by security personnel and said the incident should be investigated.
Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also posted a brief demand for the minister’s arrest, while Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi accused Verma of responding to questions over the road's condition with “arrogance” and demanded police action.
