Hyderabad, June 24 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught an assistant engineer of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to an official release from the ACB on Tuesday, the accused officer, T Manisha, assistant engineer at the GHMC office, Ward No. 2, Nehru Nagar, Golnaka, Amberpet, was caught by officials of the City Range-1 unit.
She was caught while demanding and accepting Rs 15,000 from a complainant in exchange for processing and forwarding the complainant’s bills to her superiors.
The statement further revealed that the officer had already accepted Rs 5,000 earlier from the same complainant. The ACB noted that the officer had performed her duty improperly and dishonestly to gain undue advantage.
The bribe amount was recovered from the accused at her instance, and both of her hands tested positive in the chemical test conducted by ACB officials.
Manisha was being arrested and produced before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, Hyderabad.
