ACP suspended amid departmental proceedings after demonstration near Delhi PHQ

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) In view of departmental proceedings being contemplated against Assistant Commissioner of Police Manasvi Vashishta, the Ministry of Home Affairs has placed him under suspension, sources said.
The development comes after a group of police personnel, reportedly led by the officer concerned had gathered near the Delhi Police Headquarters on Monday, and raised concerns, demonstrating over the recent face- off with the lawyers that happened recently in Shahdara, following which two officers, including Vashishtha had been transferred.
Sources say that the Ministry took a serious view of the demonstration, reportedly led by Vashishta, which seems to have been viewed as a violation of discipline.
Meanwhile, to address the concerns of the personnel, Delhi Police also held a Sampark Sabha on Monday at the Police Headquarters where Commissioner, along with all Special Commissioners and other senior officers, interacted with police personnel and patiently heard their grievances and concerns.
The police personnel of various ranks highlighted issues concerning the dignity of the police force, respect for the uniform and the need for a structured mechanism to address their grievances.
The police chief assured them that prompt and appropriate actions will be taken to address their genuine concerns systematically to reinforce the morale of the force and uphold the dignity and honour of the police uniform.
During the meeting with various Bar Association and Bar Council of Delhi, it has been decided to constitute a Joint Coordination Committee with their representatives at District and PHQ level to address issues arising in the discharge of official duties by police officials.
