Acrotech Biopharma launches ADQUEY in US, enters dermatology market

Hyderabad, Sep 30 (UNI) Acrotech Biopharma Inc, , a subsidiary of Hyderabad based Aurobindo Pharma, on Thursday announced the launch of ADQUEY (difamilast 1%) ointment in the US for the treatment of mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis in adults and children aged two years and above.
The non-steroidal topical phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor is intended for patients with atopic dermatitis, a chronic inflammatory skin condition, the pharma company said in a release.
The product was originally discovered and developed by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and licensed to Acrotech Biopharma for commercialisation in the US.
The launch marks Acrotech's entry into the US dermatology market.
The company has also established a dedicated dermatology business unit with specialised marketing, sales and field-based capabilities to support healthcare professionals and improve patient access to treatment.
According to IQVIA data cited by the company, the US market for atopic dermatitis treatments was estimated at around USD 1.3 billion for the 12 months ending July 2026.
"The launch of ADQUEY is an important milestone for Acrotech and marks our entry into the US dermatology market with a differentiated treatment option for patients living with atopic dermatitis," said Ashish Anvekar, President of Acrotech Biopharma.
He said the company was building a dedicated dermatology platform to support the product's launch and pursue further opportunities to address unmet needs in dermatological care.
The new business unit will focus on raising awareness of ADQUEY, engaging with dermatology healthcare professionals and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey, while developing capabilities to expand the company's presence in the specialty dermatology market.
The launch is part of Acrotech's strategy to expand its portfolio of proprietary medicines and establish specialised commercial platforms in therapeutic areas with significant patient needs.
