Adani Ports sets up Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal in Oman to expand global presence

Mumbai, Oct 31 (UNI) Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) officially announced here on Saturday that it has established an overseas subsidiary company in Oman called Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal, as part of its strategy to expand its international presence as well as strengthen its position as a global integrated transport operator.
The Adani-owned company was incorporated in Oman on October 21, according to a regulatory filing by the APSEZ with the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal is wholly-owned by Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd, which is itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of APSEZ, making the new Oman-registered company a step-down subsidiary of APSEZ, according to the official statement.
According to the regulatory filing, Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal will operate in the ports and logistics industry. The share capital of the Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal is 500,000 Omani Riyals, comprising 100 shares valued at 5,000 Omani Riyals each, all held by Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of APSEZ.
The incorporation of Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal in Oman forms part of APSEZ’s broader strategy to build a globally diversified business platform, expand its international footprint and strengthen its presence in key global markets, according to the APSEZ statement.
However, the APSEZ regulatory filing with the NSE did not identify any specific port or terminal in Oman associated with the newly-incorporated Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal, nor did it provide any other investment details.
APSEZ is India’s largest and one of the world’s fastest-growing integrated transport operators.
With a network of 20 ports and terminals, including 16 strategically located ports in India and four international ports in Israel, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Australia, APSEZ plays a vital role in connecting businesses, markets and global trade routes.
In India, APSEZ handles nearly 27% of the country’s cargo volumes, supported by a port capacity of 671 million metric tonnes, with a target of reaching 1 billion metric tonnes of cargo by 2030, according to information on the company’s website.
APSEZ’s world-class infrastructure handles a diverse range of cargo, including dry bulk, liquid bulk, crude oil, containers and breakbulk, while accommodating some of the largest vessels operating in the region.
