Mumbai, June 12 (UNI) The Tata Group on Thursday announced to provide Rs one crore to the family of each person who lost their life in Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The announcement was made by the company's chairman N Chandrasekaran, who said that the group will also cover the medical expenses of those injured and ensure that they receive all necessary care and support.
"Additionally, we will provide support in the building up of the B J Medical's hostel," he said.
"No words can adequately express the grief we feel at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured."
"We remain steadfast in standing with the affected families and communities during the unimaginable time," he added.
Notably, the Air India flight AI-171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner bound for London, went down shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad airport. The aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
