Mumbai, June 13 (UNI) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday sharply criticised the Central government for its failure to take responsibility following a series of tragic events, including the Pahalgam terror attack, the Mumbai train incident, and the recent Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad.
Addressing reporters in Mumbai, Raut condemned key ministers for their silence and lack of accountability.
“There was the Pahalgam terror attack where tourists were targeted, yet the Home Minister Amit Shah has not taken responsibility. People fell from a train in Mumbai and died, but Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw remains silent. A passenger jet crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, but Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has not accepted responsibility,” he said.
Raut also drew attention to the ongoing unrest in Manipur, lamenting the absence of leadership and accountability. He questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on sensitive issues, including remarks by former US President Donald Trump on Operation Sindoor, asking, “Will he take responsibility?”
Reflecting on the Ahmedabad plane crash, Raut expressed personal grief over the loss of senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was among the victims. “He was my Rajya Sabha colleague, a good man with roots in Konkan,” Raut said.
Raut feared the number of casualties — including passengers and those on the ground — could exceed 300. He emphasised that many of the deceased were from Maharashtra, with a majority of the crew hailing from Mumbai and nearby areas.
Responding to the Prime Minister’s visit to Ahmedabad to console victims’ families, Raut acknowledged the gesture but noted that Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders, including Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray, were among the first to offer condolences, with Aaditya even cancelling his birthday celebrations.
