AI must improve public services & reduce citizen's visits to offices: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) must accelerate government work, ensure timely resolution of public grievances and bring tangible improvements to the lives of ordinary citizens.
Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘AI Saksham’ programme, organised by TG Math with the support of the Planning Department at MCR HRD, he said farmers, pensioners and other citizens should not have to visit government offices repeatedly to get their work done.
Time saved through AI must translate into faster and better public services, he stressed.
Bhatti said AI could help the Finance Department analyse public expenditure, identify delays in project implementation and assess whether welfare benefits were reaching eligible beneficiaries.
He also highlighted its potential to forecast electricity demand, detect equipment faults and improve power supply.
Emphasising data security and accountability, he cautioned officials against entering confidential information into unauthorised AI tools.
He said AI-generated information must be verified, human oversight maintained in official decisions and citizens given access to accountable officials for grievance redressal.
The Deputy Chief Minister called for pilot projects in every department, with wider implementation based on accuracy, cost-effectiveness and measurable public benefits.
He said the success of AI Saksham should be judged by improved service delivery, greater transparency and fewer unnecessary visits by citizens to government offices.
