Alcohol consumption in Katra Hotel: Orry yet to appear before police

Jammu, June 15 (UNI) Fashion icon and Bollywood personality Orhan Awatramani popular as Orry is yet to appear before the police nearly three months after he along with his friends was booked in liquor consumption case in a hotel at Katra town--the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine nestled in Trikuta Hills of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Police on March 15 have booked Orry and his friends for consuming alcohol in a hotel at Katra.
"So far, two notices have been served to those named in the FIR including Orry," a senior police officer said.
He stated that some of them in person appeared before the police, adding, "Orry has not yet appeared."
"We are following all legal procedures and served notices asking the remaining to appear before the police," he said, adding, "it is learnt that those named in this case have applied for bail."
Previously, police in their official communique had said that taking cognizance of the complaint regarding an issue involving certain guests who were staying at Hotel Katra Marriott Resort and Spa and found taking Alcohol, an FIR was lodged under relevant sections at Police Station Katra.
Police said that as per the Manager of the property, on March 15, guests who include Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina, consumed alcohol in their hotel premises in spite of being told that alcohol and non-veg diet is not allowed inside Cottage Suite as it is strictly prohibited at such a divine Mata Vaishno Sevi pilgrimage place.
Sensing the gravity of the matter, strict instructions were passed by SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, to nab the defaulters, thereby setting an example of no tolerance of any such act of drugs or alcohol at religious places, which hurts the sentiments of the common masses.
The team comprising SP Katra, DySP Katra and SHO Katra was formed to track the culprits who violated the rule of the land and showed disrespect to the sentiments of the people connected with the faith.
The SSP Reasi said that there is no place for those who do not follow the law of the land and try to disrupt the peace by resorting to any means, especially by way of drugs or alcohol, and will be dealt with iron hands.
