Alcoholic man sets house on fire with parents inside in Jahangirpuri, fire brigade personnel injured

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) An alcoholic man allegedly set his house on fire while his parents were inside it on Friday, in North West Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, while the fire also triggered a gas cylinder blast at the site injuring a firefighter, police said.

The incident took place in North West Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, and the PCR received a call at around 11.26 am.

Locals say that the moment they heard the sound of the cylinder blast, there was panic among the people at the sight of the sudden cloud of smoke and the loud sound.

According to the cops, while the Delhi Fire Services team were engaged in extinguishing the blaze, a gas cylinder exploded, due to which a 32-year-old Fire Services personnel Ankit sustained superficial burn injuries on his face, hair and both hands.

He was initially taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, and was subsequently referred to the All India Institute for Medical Sciences for further medical attention and treatment.

The reportedly alcoholic man has been identified as a 30-year-old, whose father and mother were present inside the house when he allegedly set it on fire.
In this connection, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and have started investigation into the matter.
A case is being registered against the man in connection with the incident, while further probe is underway, a police officer said.
