AP : 72 red sander logs worth Rs 2.50 crore seized, Seven smugglers arrested

Tirupati, Apr 26 (UNI) The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) team seized 72 red sander logs worth Rs 2.50 crore and arrested seven smugglers at the forest area in Srikalahasti forest division in Andhra Pradesh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police G Balireddy told the media here on Monday that under the directions of Task Force Chief L Subba Rayudu, a task force team led by SRI Saigiridhar and RSI C Vinodh, conducted combing in the forest area of Srikalahasti forest division.

As part of combing, they conducted checking of vehicles on the Panguru main road at Komarapalayam. The task force police noticed a lorry and a car moving suspiciously. They rounded up the vehicles and inspected the lorry. The task force team found 72 red sander logs in the lorry and the smugglers were following the lorry in a car.

The police seized the 72 red sander logs, the lorry and the car and arrested seven red sander smugglers. Three of the arrested smugglers belong to Tamil Nadu state and four belong to Tirupati district. The seized red sander logs were shifted to the task force police station in Tirupati.
