AP: CM Vijay Joseph requests for additional drinking water for Chennai

Vijayawada, Oct 13 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Vijay Joseph met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in his camp office at Undavalli near here on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister requested Naidu for release of additional drinking water to Chennai through the Telugu Ganga project.
Chandrababu Naidu said that despite reduced Krishna water inflows due to the impact of El Niño this year and the resulting severe water scarcity, the Andhra Pradesh government remained committed to addressing Chennai's drinking water needs.
Naidu stated that Andhra Pradesh had already released 4.08 TMC of water to Chennai. Naidu told Vijay Joseph that the government would consider releasing additional water based on availability and requirements.
The Chief Ministers discussed several issues and Chandrababu Naidu explained the importance of linking the Godavari and Cauvery rivers, describing river interlinking as a permanent solution to drought. Later they visited the Vijayawada Utsav 2.0 and watched cultural programmes.
