AP: Congress to contest in all seats in local body election: APCC VP

Vijayawada, Oct 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji has announced that the party will contest all seats in the ensuing local body elections.
Talking to the media here on Monday, he said that the decision was taken at the Executive Committee meeting held by APCC President YS Sharmla and AICC In-charge of AP affairs PV Mohan, on October 3.
He said District Election Committees would be constituted under the leadership of the respective DCC presidents, with the participation of former DCC chiefs, PAC members and senior leaders. PAC members would be assigned district-wise responsibilities, while PCC Vice Presidents and General Secretaries would also be entrusted with election-related responsibilities. The Working Presidents will coordinate the overall election process.
Shivaji said the Andhra Pradesh Congress would launch a public movement on the protection of voting rights, irregularities in electoral rolls and the issue of "Vote Chori".
"The Congress party will mobilise public support for the movement being undertaken by Rahul Gandhi and continue the struggle to protect democracy and voting rights. The Congress demands that the Election Commission give clear answers to the public on the concerns being raised over the electoral process," the APCC Vice-president said.
Shivaji demanded that the state government provide complete details regarding the investment proposals it has announced, particularly the claimed investment of Rs.14 lakh crore and clarify how many jobs have actually been created and how many thousands of acres of land have been allotted for these projects.
"Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's experience should be used to resolve the problems of the people. Where are the drinking water facilities for the people, irrigation water for farmers and employment opportunities for the youth?" Shivaji asked.
