AP: Deep depression over bay of Bengal to intensify into cyclonic storm by Oct 26 :MeT

Visakhapatnam, Oct 23 (UNI) A low-pressure area over the Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to concentrate into a depression within 24 hours and intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.
The weather system, which developed around 5:30 am IST, is projected to move west-northwestwards, strengthening into a deep depression by October 25 before escalating into a full cyclonic storm over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal on the morning of October 26.
According to current trajectory models, the system will intensify further over the subsequent two days as it advances toward the North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coasts.
The storm is likely to make landfall on October 28 along the coastal stretch between Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Vizianagaram, the MeT office said in bulletin.
Administrative authorities, disaster management agencies, and maritime operators across coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha have been alerted to closely track official weather updates. Precautionary advisories are being issued to suspend offshore operations and caution fishermen against venturing into deep sea areas in view of rough sea conditions and squally winds.
