AP: Ex-CM Jagan Reddy accuses Naidu govt of 'jungle raj'

Vijayawada, Oct 16 (UNI) Responding to the incidence of violence that took place in Rayachoti and Punganur today, former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly condemned the attack on YSRCP Lok Sabha leader and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy and spoke with him over the phone to enquire about the incident and his condition.

Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had no intention of allowing the local body elections to be conducted peacefully and fairly.
He claimed there was intense public opposition to the coalition government after two-and-a-half years of its rule and that the government was resorting to violence, attacks and intimidation because of this growing resentment.

“Chandrababu Naidu has turned Andhra Pradesh into a jungle raj. We are witnessing a situation where even our party leader in the Lok Sabha has no security,” the Ex-CM regretted.
Jagan Reddy accused Chandrababu Naidu of misusing power and using the police machinery to commit electoral irregularities, while the police remained inactive even when attacks were taking place.

“The YSRCP will confront these injustices effectively and fight through every legal and constitutional means available. The party will face the elections with courage, patience and determination and place the prevailing situation in the State before the courts,” he asserted.

The Ex-CM demanded deployment of Central paramilitary forces to conduct local body elections fairly and transparently and that the YSRCP would place this demand before the judiciary as well. “We have a history of doing good for the people. Chandrababu Naidu has a history of destroying the State through violence,” Jagan Reddy claimed.
Notably, during the first day of filing nominations for the urban local body elections, clashes took place between workers of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the main opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), resulting in multiple injuries, damage to property, and vehicles being set ablaze.
Tensions escalated when Rajampet MP and YSRCP Lok Sabha floor leader P.V. Midhun Reddy arrived at a local nomination centre alongside party candidates.
A violent standoff ensued as workers from both parties came face-to-face and clashed.
