AP:GVMC steps up beautification, sanitation works ahead of CM’s visit

Visakhapatnam, Sept 17 (UNI) GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg on Thursday inspected sanitation, beautification and other arrangements at RK Beach and along Beach Road ahead of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s participation in the ‘Swarna Andhra–Swachha Andhra’ programme on September 19.
Garg directed officials of all departments to coordinate closely and complete the arrangements within the stipulated time for the Chief Minister’s visit and the programme.
He instructed officials to ensure continuous sanitation along the VIP route and keep roads and footpaths clean.
Engineering officials were asked to complete pothole repairs, paint kerbs and take up zebra-crossing markings wherever necessary.
The Commissioner directed officials to improve the appearance of RK Beach and Beach Road through paintings, landscaping and junction beautification.
He also instructed them to keep fountains functional and ensure adequate street lighting and illumination along the route.
Town Planning officials were asked to remove encroachments and unauthorised roadside structures and vending carts along the VIP route and near the venue.
They were also directed to remove unauthorised banners and flexes.
Garg ordered special attention to sanitation in the Engineering College area, where the Chief Minister is scheduled to distribute house-site pattas to poor beneficiaries, and directed deployment of dedicated sanitation teams.
He asked Heads of Departments and Zonal Heads to personally monitor the arrangements and ensure that all works were completed on time and the city remained clean and well-prepared for the programme.

Nine-month pregnant woman undergoes successful brain stroke treatment at KIMS Vizag
