AP: Polling stations rationalisation mooted: Kakinada RDO

Kakinada, June 25 (UNI) District revenue officer J Venkatrao said that the rationalisation of polling stations and arranging of new polling stations was mooted.
Addressing the representatives of the recognised political parties at a meeting held at the collectorate here today, Venkatrao sought their cooperation to finalise the rationalisation process.
He said there were 584 polling stations with voters numbering 1,000-1,200 and 282 polling stations having more than 1,200 voters.
Similarly, some polling stations were located in dilapidated buildings and they should be changed to a new premises, he said.
All the 1,640 polling stations will be inspected thread bare by EROs, AEROs and the recommendation of political parties also would be taken in to consideration while taking a decision, he informed.
On July 7 there will be table top exercise on the polling stations reorganisation, and from July 12 to 17th the centers sections, parts, boundaries and locations will be decided.
Later on July 20 the district election officer will announce the polling stations draft and upto July 30 objections and suggestions will be received. By August 5 the rationalisation report will be sent to Election Commission’, he added.
Recognised political parties representatives – Gadula Saibaba (TDP), Ravuru Venkateswerarao (YSRCP) AVV Satyanarayana (Jana sena) Ch Ramesh Babu (BJP) S Apparao (BSP), P Krishna (INC), Election cell superintendent M Jagannadham took part in the deliberations.
